HOWARD, Charles R. "Chuck" Age 68 of Hamilton, passed away Friday, December 11, 2009 at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born January 7, 1941 in Hazard, KY, the son of Dewey and Mabel (Wells) Howard. On April 16, 1977 Chuck married Maria Lucas in Hamilton. Other than his family, Chuck enjoyed fishing with his friends and children. His memberships included: Founder/President of West Side Bass Club since 1991; Chairman of Hamilton Optimist Youth Ranch (Kids and MRDD Fishing Derby); 4-time Past President of Hamilton Optimist Youth Ranch and Tournament Director of DMT (Dixie Marine Tournament); and Fairfield Community Church. Chuck's simple, yet compassionate nature will be sorely missed by all that knew him. He leaves behind his loving wife, Maria Howard; children, Dennis Howard, Deonna (David) Pruitt, Bryan (Beth) Howard, and Jeff Messer; brother, Wilmer (Malvery) Howard; sister, Lorene (Robert) Day; and grandchildren, Evan Pruitt, Josh Pruitt, Kelsey Messer, Weston Pruitt, and Madeline McGowan. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Elmer and Mark Howard. A special thanks to Chuck's sister, Lorene and brother, Wilmer for all of their help. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Pastor Richard Sterwerf officiating. Burial will follow. FRANKLIN Loretta age 82, of Fairfield, Ohio died Saturday December 12, 2009 at 2:35 a.m. at Westover Retirement Community in Hamilton, Ohio. She was born on March 14, 1927 in Clay County, Kentucky the daughter of Robert and Ethel (Asher) Woods. She was educated in the Kentucky and Maryland public schools. In 1956 she married Denver Franklin and he preceded her in death in 1977. Denver and Loretta were one of the Founding Families of the City of Fairfield. Loretta was a Kentucky Colonel, owner of the Townhouse Restaurant, then in 1961 Denver and Loretta were the founding owners and operators of Delta Pipeline Contractors. She is survived by her loving daughter and caregiver Darlene Franklin Householder of Fairfield and son John A. (Karen) Franklin of Florida; 2 grandchildren Jonathan Franklin and Eric Franklin; sister Virginia (Ralph) Brown-Starr; brothers Robert A. (Myrtle) Woods and Robert C. (Neeva) Woods; also survived by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Denver, sister Sarah E. Woods and brother Robert B. Woods. A Celebration of Loretta's Life and Funeral will be Tuesday December 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Paul R. Young Funeral Home 3950 Pleasant Ave. Hamilton, Ohio, with Rev. She was born December 28, 1928 in West Liberty, KY the daughter of Green and Monnie McGuire. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thank in 2003; and three brothers, Clyde, Russell, and Michael McGuire. Magdalene is survived by her son, Tony Robinson Sr. (Terri); Two daughters, Brenda Bledsoe and Debbie Robinson; five brothers, Ray, James, Jackie, Robert, and Forrest McGuire; and four sisters, Helen Fletcher, Ella Rose Johnson, Shirley Willis, and Janice Turner. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Stephanie Shockley, Tony Robinson Jr., Brandon Robinson, and Dylan Bledsoe and five great grandchildren, Brigitte, Logan, Kyle, Landen, and Ashton. He was born March 5, 1929 in Harlan County, Kentucky the son of the late John and Julie (nee Sims) Hacker. Mr. Hacker was a truck driver for over 40 years, and he loved bluegrass music and traveling. He is survived by his wife Imogene Hacker; two daughters Sheila (Wade) Holland and Michael Ann (Pam) Daulton; four sons Eddie Hacker, Johnny (Barb) Hacker, Jerry (Novana) Hacker, and Marvin (Brenda) Hacker; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; two sisters Lois (Wilbur) Sasser and Alv (Donnie) Dozier. Mr. Hacker was also preceded in death by his son Euclid Hacker, his daughter Julia Wilson, and his grandson Richard Hacker. BYRD, Darrell age 51 of South Lebanon passed peacefully Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Bethesda North Hospital with his family by his side. Born February 2, 1958 in Clay County, Kentucky, he was the son of Bill and Goldie Byrd and had been employed with Terra Southwest Landmark as a driver. Darrell was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and son, a lifelong resident of Warren County and a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist church in South Lebanon. Darrell enjoyed hunting and fishing and most of all, spending time with his family. Preceded in death by his father and sister Virginia Metcalf, he leaves behind his loving and caring wife - Tracie (Molen) Byrd of South Lebanon; son David Byrd and daughter Patricia Byrd both of South Lebanon; dear mother Goldie Byrd of South Lebanon; brothers Billy Joe Byrd of Goshen and Greg Byrd of Morrow; sister Brenda (Donnie) Davidson of Morrow; grandchildren Matthew, Nathan, Abbigail and Marcus and many other family members, friends and neighbors. CRAYCRAFT, Kathleen B. age 77 of Hamilton passed away Wednesday December 16, 2009 at Hospice of Hamilton. She was born September 22, 1932 in Clay County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Clay and Alzie (nee Sparks) Byrd. On September 30, 1955 in Dayton, Ohio she married Robert Craycraft. Mrs. Craycraft worked in retail sales at Elder-Beerman for over 25 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a proud housewife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Robert Craycraft; one son Michael (Faye) Craycraft; one daughter Cynthia Craycraft; one grandson Brian McKnight; one great grandson Austin Dennis; two sisters Wanda (Lester) Staggs and Lillie Faye (Bobby) Drinnon; four brothers Arthur (Phyllis) Byrd, Carl (Cindy) Byrd, Raymond (Cindy) Byrd, and Charlie Byrd. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Craycraft was also preceded in death by her grandson Gary Egner, her sister Alpha Warren, and her step mother Thelma Byrd. I am the Great Grand-daughter of Buddie "Bud", "Budy" Gullett the son of Benjamin Franklin Gullett and Mary Jackson. My Great Grandmother is Edna Burgett Gullett Stiffler. She is the daughter of John Burgett and Georgann Patrick) b. Feb 1897 - d. Apr 1986. Benjamin Franklin Gullett married Mary Jackson. Benjamin Franklin (b. 6/26/1892-d. 6/10/1892) is the son of Wiley Gullett and Jane Pelphry. Mary Jackson (b.10/7/1865-d.3/9/1912) is the daughter of John Jackson and Pop Minix. (The Gullett Family Book 1 (page 68, 90) and Book 2 (page 569, 570, 571, 572, & 573) only mention a few of B.F. Gullett and Mary Jackson's children.
Neither my Great Grandfather Buddie Gullett nor his family is mentioned in any of the books. This is a brief summary of our family outline.

SHOEMAKER, Lois age 64 of Millville passed away at Mercy Hospital Fairfield on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 8:01 PM. She was born in Harlan County, Kentucky on February 13, 1945 the daughter of George and Florence (Parker) Robbins. Lois, a homemaker who was devoted to her family, was a member of West Side Baptist Church. On August 1, 1970 in Harlan County, she married Charles Shoemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Billy Ray, Harold, and David Robbins; and two sisters, Edna Helton and Shirley Robbins. She was employed at Union Sanitary Cleaners and Laundry for 20 years and was the custodian at the 12th District Court of Appeals until her retirement. Lena was a member of The Church at Mayfield where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and sewing. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norvel Lovely in 1979; brothers, Ova Peyton, Gene Peyton; sisters, Nell Carpenter, Neva McKinney and 3 infant sisters. Lena is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Ralph) York of Middletown; sons, John D. (Frances) Lovely, Kenneth (Carol) Lovely both of Middletown; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, sister, Norma McCoy of Middletown. He is survived by one sister, Ruby Foland; two nieces, Jean Ann (John) Parks of Monroe and Marisue (Clifford) Howard of Middletown; a nephew Ted (Donna) Foland of Franklin; four great nieces, Jodi Mestepey, Joan Hatley, Jenny Jones, Vicki Howard; two great nephews, Jay Parks, Brian Howard; and 12 great great nieces and nephews. Jerry worked for General Telephone Co. for years, retiring in 1990. She was an avid bowler and helped many friends. She helped when needed at the Phillips Restaurant and at the Liberty Bell in Liberty, Indiana. Survived by grand-daughter Shannon (Ron) Muskopf, great grandchildren Kristina Mayo, Daniel, Becky and Evan Muskopf. Funeral services were held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford; Visitation was Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. The family sends special thanks and appreciation to all her doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Atrium Medical Center and Hospice of Dayton (Butler and Warren Counties Branch). Preceding her in death were her parents, Green and Martha Burton; her husband, Herman Fugate in 2005; one son, Paul Fugate in 2004; and six sisters and one brother. MCGUIRE, Cameron, (Mac) age 81, a resident at Garden Manor Village, Middletown, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009. He was born January 14, 1928 in Morgan County, KY, the third child of 10 children to Claude and Leora (Perry) McGuire. He worked as a crane operator, retiring from Armco Steel in 1987. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church and greatly enjoyed wood working as a hobby. He was a veteran of the US Army, a member of the VFW; American Legion; Lincoln Masonic Lodge #693 F & AM; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Cameron is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Marlene (Carrington), parents Claude and Leora McGuire; brothers, Owen, Vernon, Lynn and Denton McGuire; sisters, Doreen McGuire, Verdina Engle and Joyce Shipley and great-grandchild Brayden McGuire. He is survived by his 3 children, Gary (Ronda) McGuire, David (Linda) McGuire and Gina (Rodney) Barge; 7 grandchildren, Lonnie (Brandie) McGuire, Kevin (Jamie) McGuire, Joshua McGuire, Michael McGuire(Katie Barnett), Jason Bowen, Owen Bowen and Heather Bowen; 8 great-grandchildren, Corbin, Kaelyn, Acasia, Alyssa, Alenah, Madyson, Connor and Laya; brothers, Clinton McGuire, Jefferson Indiana and Charles McGuire. WARREN, Millie E. age 87 of Hamilton passed away at Birchwood Care Center on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 6:10 PM. She was born in Jackson County, Kentucky on January 30, 1922 the daughter of Roy and Elly Jane (Lakes) Gentry. Millie was a member of the Senior Citizens Center and an avid bingo player. In 1951 she married Monroe Warren in Liberty, Indiana. She is survived by her son, Donald Warren of Hamilton; two daughters, Vickie Williams of Phoenix, Arizona and Melanie (Bob) Drew of Hamilton; two grand-daughters, Tiffany (Craig) Kremer of Hamilton and Brandi Drew of Fairfield Township; a brother, Edward (Betty) Gentry of Fairfield; two sisters, Elrena Hubbard and Barbara Chestnut, both of Hamilton; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Ruford and Herman Gentry. She is preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Irvin Eversole, husband Bige Shepherd, Jr., two brothers James Eversole, Jack Eversole, and her three children Carl "Sonny" Shepherd, Jimmy C. Shepherd, and Nora Diane Monk. She is survived by her sisters Freda Silvis (Jack) of Granger, IN, and Ena McAtee of Williamstown, KY, daughters-in- law Brenda Shepherd of Morristown, TN, and Anita Shepherd of Marion, IN, grandchildren Renae Agee (Craig) of Hamilton, OH, Traci Barrett (Wayde) of Franklin, OH, Clayton Shepherd (Teresa) of Cincinnati, Susan Caudill (Danny) of Trenton, OH, great grandchildren Zachary Short, Nathan Rose, Stephanie Agee, Rachel Agee, Cody Agee, and Bricen Caudill. PUGH, Buster 83, of Monroe, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Glomaur, Kentucky on June 6, 1926 to parents Ervin and Stella (Clemmons) Pugh. Buster owned the Phillips 66 Station in Monroe and also worked as a mechanic for Aeronca, Montgomery Wards and Howe Motors, finally retiring from Square D in 1989. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II, was a member of the American Legion in Delaware, Ohio and was a Kentucky Colonel. Buster was a member of the Logan Ave. Church of Christ. Mr. Pugh is survived by his wife of 63 years, Thelma L. (Wells) Pugh; sons, Stephen (Joan) Pugh, John (Peggy) Pugh and Anthony (Bonnie) Pugh; daughters, Rhonda (Steve) Helton, Lajona (Mark) Bradley and April Pugh; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. SELKE, Arlene B. age 86 of Oxford, died October 11, 2009 at Mercy Hospital Fairfield. She was born March 11, 1923 in Molus, Kentucky, the daughter of Albert and Florence (Greer) Blanton. She married Arthur Selke May 23, 1942 who preceded her in death February 4, 1992. She was employed at Miami University for 23 years and treasured her time at Oxford College Hall. She will be remembered as a very sweet, loving and giving person who loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Arlene is survived by four daughters, Diane (Ed) Hartkemeyer of Hamilton, JoAnn Selke, Marilyn Schrimper (Mike Brunner) and Carolyn Selke all of Oxford; seven grandchildren, Jason (Shannon) Hartkemeyer, Linda Sirotka, Angela (John) Ittu, Jonathan (Sara Simpson) Hartkemeyer, Christina (Levi Hall) Hartkemeyer, Mark (Regina) Schrimper, Chris (Linda) Schrimper; nine great grandchildren and many many friends. MORGAN, Muriel (Campbell) was born November 20, 1911 at Yerkes, Perry County, Kentucky the daughter of Sherman and Molly (Williams) Campbell. She passed away on October 10, 2009 at Cottingham Retirement Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was one month short of her 98th birthday. Muriel was married to Fred Morgan of Busy, Kentucky on January 3, 1931 in Jackson, Kentucky. She grew up in her fathers general store and received her teacher certificate at Morehead Teachers College. She taught school at the time of her marriage. Both she and her husband, Fred were teachers before opening their own General store at Busy, Kentucky where Muriel also served as Post Mistress in the Busy Post Office. After moving to Hamilton, Ohio in the 1950s, she and Fred operated a general store in Okeana, Ohio. After Freds death in October, 1961, she continued to operate the store for the next 15 years. After retirement, she lived in Okeana where she traveled extensively with the seniors groups as well as sitting in for the drummer when he was absent with the "Over the Hill Band" in Hamilton. During her retirement years, Muriel enjoyed travel with her son, Bobby to Germany, France, England, and Ireland. A trip to Hawaii was also in store for her. She traveled throughout the U.S. from Maine to California with her son, Keith and spent her winters in Arizona with him. Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, R.B. Campbell of Hyden, Kentucky and Denver Campbell of Hazard, Kentucky; and one sister, Freda Durbin of McKee, Kentucky. She is survived by two sons, Fred Keith Morgan of Cold Springs, Kentucky and Robert Bruce "Bob" Morgan of Lebanon, Ohio; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at Charles C. TRUMAN, Orville age 93 of Hamilton passed away at his residence on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 8:30 AM. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky on May 9, 1916 the son of Hugh and Clara (Todd) Truman. Orville was a veteran of the Ohio National Guard from 1934 to 1940, and the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was employed as a paper worker at Champion Paper for 34 years, retiring in 1978. Orville was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #0199 in Harrison, and was also an Eagle Scout. On June 26, 1941 he married Mary Susan Saylor, and they were married for 67 years before she preceded him in death on February 18, 2009. He is survived by a son, Larry Dale Truman of Hamilton; three daughters, Lynette Truman Arndt of Hamilton, Laura Lee Taylor of Forney, Texas, and Joella Truman Cupp of Hamilton; a sister, Juanita Bennett of Connersville, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janet Farley; and sons-in-law Frank Taylor and Rodney Farley. DRAKE, Violet Ezell Violet Drake (Simpson) passed away October 17th, 2009, at the Atrium in Middletown. She was born Violet Ezell Simpson in Jackson County, Kentucky on August 25th, 1927, the daughter of Herman and Eunice Simpson. Violet married her beloved husband, John Hodges Drake VI, on March 28th, 1949. Violet and John were married for 58 years. Her husband preceded her in death on October 4th, 2007 but they remained bound by love and are again together side by side in the presence of their Lord and Savior. Mrs. Drake was an accomplished musician and she chose to use her talents to serve others through her Christian ministry. She served at various times throughout her life as organist or pianist for the families of St. Clair Avenue Baptist, Immanuel Baptist and Faith United Church of Christ. Even after she retired, she continued to play for services at the Fairfield Pavillion provided by the Fairfield Church of the Nazarene. She touched countless lives with her music playing for services and weddings throughout the community. Mrs. Drake also served the community by working as the assistant administrator of the Butler County Care Facility from 1972 until her retirement in 1997. In 1997, Mrs. Drake was honored for her life time of service to the residents of Butler County. Mrs. Drake is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Karen L. (John) Pond of Birmingham, Alabama, and Mrs. Elizabeth A. (Tim) Peters of Hamilton; three sons, John "Hodge" (Diane) Drake of Clarksville, David W. (Lanita) Drake of Fairfield, and Stephen Drake of Fairfield. Mrs. Drake was blessed to have 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Drake had two sisters, June Winkler and Vernell Baecker; and three brothers, Harold Simpson, Vernon Simpson and Wayne Simpson, all of Hamilton. Mrs. Drake was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Ward; and a daughter, Susan Lynn Drake. Upon her retirement in 1997 from the Butler County Care Facility, Mrs. Drake was quoted as saying, "It is, after all, what we give of ourselves that gives people who are lonely and hurting the security and compassion they need... and we will all need one day." It is with these words in mind that the children of Mrs. Drake would like to offer our sincerest thanks to the employees of Avalon at the Atrium, Davita Dialysis, and the Fairfield Pavillion for the same compassion and security offered to our mother. HOWARD, Raymond E. age 75, of Morning Sun, went to be with the Lord, Monday morning, September 28, 2009. He was born in Harlan, KY, July 5, 1934, the son of Ben Franklin and Maude (Bailey) Howard. In 1962 he married Nancy Fisher in Liberty, IN. He retired from Miami University in 1999. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Oxford. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Violet (Terry) Ondrovich; three grandchildren; Terry and wife Angel, Cindy and fiancée Jerome Day, Timothy Raymond; one great grandchild Mario; sisters Lois (J.R.) Flickenger, Linda (Gary) Embs, Ada Howard, Violet (Ronny) Fields; brothers, Lester, Densel (Sheila), Walter (Jada), Ben (Mary); many nieces, nephews and friends. Also his loving buddies, Sugar and Bugsy. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Howard his parents; brothers, Paul, Miller; and sisters Mary Jane and Irene. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 1:00pm at the Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford. Visitation will be held beginning at 11:00am until the time of the service. He will be laid to rest in the Springdale Cemetery, Reily, Ohio.

COX, Anna 83, of Middletown, died Sunday, September 27, 2009, at her residence. She was born in Wolf County, Kentucky on October 27, 1925 to parents Carl and Lucy (King) Brashears. Anna worked as a seamstress for Gough-Lamb Cleaners for many years. She loved to sew and crochet and made dolls for her grandchildren. Mrs. Cox is survived by her son, Roland (Patti) Cox; daughters, Charlotte Tinch and Brenda (Gary) Yeazel; foster son, Donald (Donna) Brashears; brother, Jesse Brashears; sister, Golden Brashears Rose; five grandchildren, Kevin Tinch, Kyle Tinch, Dennis Cox, Dana Stephens and Richard Cobb II; five great grandchildren, Jessie Tinch, Ashley Cox, Allison Cox, Alex Cornele and Luke Cornele; and one great great grandchild, Jesse Tinch Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Dennis Cox in March 2008; her parents; brothers, Corbet Brashears, Dempsey Brashears, Hobert Brashears, Sampson Brashears, Luther Collins, Denmar Collins, Marvin Collins and Kernie Collins; sister, Elva Jane Byrd; and great great grandchild, Gerald Lloyd Tinch. ALEXANDER, Kenneth L. 67 of Springboro passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009 after a long 17-year battle with cancer. He was born August 29, 1942 in Jackson County, KY the son of James and Linda Alexander. He was a member of the OCGA, NRA, and Middletown Sportsman Club where he served on the board of directors for many years. His love of life, his courage and strength was admired by everyone who knew him. He is preceded in death by his father and a grandson, Thomas Q. Sweeney. LINCKS, Donald G. age 79, of of Nassau Dr., Victorville, CA., gained eternal rest Friday, September 18, 2009. He was born in. East Bernstadt, Kentucky, the son of Fred, and Mollie Wyatt Lincks. Don moved to Hamilton, Ohio during his youth and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1948. He joined the Army for 4 years stationed in Tokyo, Japan. While there he was a student at the Kodakan School of Judo and received the first degree in the Black Belt. When he returned home from Japan, he opened up his own Judo school. teaching the sport to many young school children, men and women and putting on several exhibitions. He worked with Champion Paper, Inc in Hamilton, Ohio for a number of years working in the mill and coating departments and enjoyed playing baseball and basketball in the mill league. He also enjoyed the great sport of golf. He retired from Champion Paper in 1962 and moved to California, working for Sabin Robbins Paper Co. for 23 years. He also was a successful Real Estate Agent & Broker for 31 years. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Janet Gillespie Lincks from Hamilton, Ohio, 2 daughters Donna Ketterer and Julie Ferrara; 4 grandchildren, Eddie and Sarah Ferrara, Jacob and Brian Ketterer, 3 great-grandchildren, Asa, Ren and Brigitte Ketterer all of California. Desert View Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.

He had learned his trade from his father-in-law, Paul Baker of Oxford, and had his own small construction business. Mert loved spending time with his family, friends, fishing and helping others. He was a former Assistant Fire Chief of South Madison Township and the Butler County Mounted Sheriff's Patrol. His hobbies included fishing and horses; he was a 4-H advisor in Butler County for many years. He is survived by one son, James R. and wife Rhonda Proffitt of Camden, Ohio; two step daughters, Kristie (Mike) Back of Trenton, Laurie (Rick) Grubb of Middletown; one step son, Carl "Skip" (Celeste) Combs of Melbourne, Florida; two brothers, Eugene (Rhonda) Proffitt and J.D. LEROY, Freida Konstan (Churchill) age 89, of Middletown, OH died Sunday, September 20, 2009 at the Atrium Medical Center. Freida was born August 7, 1920, to Berton Churchill and Nettie (Vermillion) Churchill at Barbourville, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard L. LeRoy, and a sister Marge (Churchill) Kirk. Freida was active in the town's youth activities and was an accomplished pianist. She came to Middletown in 1953 after moving with her husband and two young sons from Ashland, KY. She attended First United Methodist Church for over fifty years where she was an active member. Freida worked at home with her seamstress business, as well as the Davidson Photo Shop in the old Middletown Shopping Center. She developed a natural artistic skill and painted for many years. With her husband she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels through the Middletown Regional Hospital. Freida leaves behind two sons, William C. (Marie) LeRoy of Lima, OH, Richard C. (Donna) LeRoy of Carlisle, OH; four grandchildren, William Christopher (Carol) LeRoy of Plain City, OH, Leslie (Mark) Medice of Pittsburgh, PA, Rebecca (Patrick) O'Connell of Carlisle, OH, Cynthia (Wendel) Donathan of Mt. Orab, OH; 10 great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Freida lived her life in a quiet unpretentious way of compassion for others, volunteer work for community service, and an unwavering dedication to her family. She will be missed by her friends. The family wishes to express their special thanks to Shari Elam and Opal McKnight for the love and care they gave to Freida in her final days. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Breitenbach- McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. HARRIS, Robert age 94, of Hamilton, passed away at his residence on September 20, 2009. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky on July 2, 1915, the son of the late Henry and Lillie (Myers) Harris. In Newport, Kentucky on December 18, 1943, Robert married Vida Davis. After 32 years of employment with Champion Papers, Robert retired in 1977. He had been a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Hugh L. Bates Lodge No. 686 for over 50 years. Robert is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Vida; daughters, Carolyn Sue Eynon of Indianapolis, Indiana and Jean (Lee) Michalsky of New York; grandchildren, Andrew (Debbie) Eynon and Katherine (Robert) Eynon-Orr; great-grandchildren, Isis, Drustin, Samuel and Sarah; brother, Preston Harris; sister, Mary (Donald) Lewis; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Frances Harris. Funeral services will be held at Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South "D" Street, Hamilton, at 2pm on Friday September 25, 2009. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Family and friends will be received from 6pm until 8pm on Thursday September 24, 2009 at the funeral home, with Masonic Services being held at 7:30pm. I have Sarah Sally Mann born 1813 as her mother and her father Reuben Arnett born 1810 and died 1863 .They were married July 1, 1825 in Floyd county, Kentucky. Her father then married Louraney Jones. Clarinda born 1826 married to Culdberth Stone born 1825.

She was born December 31, 1935 in Bear Branch, Kentucky the daughter of the late Robert and Malva (nee Hensley) Crawford. On November 7, 1953 in Leslie County, Kentucky she married Charles Begley. Mrs. Begley was a devoted servant of the Lord and was a long time member of Governor's Park Baptist Church, where she served the church in many capacities over the years. She worked as a courier at First Financial Bank for over 17 years, just recently retiring. She was extremely devoted to her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Charles Begley; four children, Allen (Pam) Begley of Hamilton, Jerry (Pam) Begley of Fairfield, Eddie (Julie) Begley of Hamilton, and Tina (Tim) Colina of Colerain Township; nine grandchildren Robbie (Renee) Begley, Jason Begley, Joey Begley, Randy (fiancé Jenny Jacob) Begley, Tim Colina, Tiffany Colina, Tyler Begley, Tanner Begley, and Hannah Begley; siblings Hazel (Mel) Thorne of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Ralph (Van) Crawford of Corbin, Kentucky, and Ted (Evelyn) Crawford of Lexington, Kentucky; sisters and brothers-in- law, Betty Crawford, Helen Crawford, Betty Begley, Mildred Porter, Margaret Ann (Charles) Sherrell, Audrey (Darrell) Hall, Janie (Donnie) Rice, James (Sue) Begley, Dean Begley, and Jack Begley. My g g grandfather Cuthberth Stone married a Clarinda Arnett April 2, 1847 at Floyd Co., Ky. Do you have anything on this couple? Clarinda was born 1827 and her father was Ruben Arnett and mother was a Mann. Let me know, thanks. Loretta

Hello Sheila,
I also have connection to Magoffin County, Ky - Salyersville, Greenup and even Middletown, Oh. My grandparents James Henry Jenkins and Maudie (Maude) Montgomery Jenkins lived in Magoffin Co. They have 4 children buried in the Wheeler Cemetery down there. Grandfather's mother's name is qustionable. Either Amanda "Birns" Jenkins or her daughter Lousina Jenkins Cantrell. He was born approx 1901. My grandmother's parents were Charles (Chat) N. Montgomery and I believe Nora Griffith (not for sure if this is a maiden name or not). She was born in 1904. Later in years relocated to Buena Vista, Oh close to Portsmouth. That is where I believe they lived when grandfather died. Grandmother moved to Greenup Co., Ky from there. I believe Chat Montgomery did marry a few times. Children being Rosy Montgomery approx 1894, Maudie Montgomery, Flora Montgomery. Would like to get some info on this family line if anyone can add to it.
My husband and I moved to Middletown from Ashland, Ky in 1978 and lived there for a year. We lived on Jewel Street.
Just want to let you know I was excited to be guided to this site.

She was born in Rockcastle County, Kentucky on May 25, 1913, the daughter of Tillman and Etta (Perry) Seals. She married Robert Barrett in August 1931. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1980. Pearl was a devoted Christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She filled her busy days caring for her family, creating delicious meals and in her spare time she enjoyed quilting, sewing and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, John Lawrence in 1983 and Gene Raymond in 1993, daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Barrett in 2009, brothers, James Seals and Harmon Seals, sisters, Kathryn Gumm, Emma Schroeder and Mary Jones. Brother, Cecil and sister, Bobbie died as young children. Pearl is survived by daughter, Phyllis Ann Cochran (James) of Hamilton; grandsons, Robert A. Barrett of Richmond, Virginia, John W. BANKS, Verna age 86, formerly of 2102 Howard Avenue, Middletown, died Monday, September 7, 2009 at 1809 North Marshall Road. She was born July 16, 1923 in Wolfe County, Kentucky, the daughter of Walter Lockard and Flossy (Morris) Lockard. Mrs. Banks was a 40-year member of the Christian Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church. Verna, (known as Mamaw) was a homemaker and stay home mother who started working after her youngest child started first grade. She retired from Middletown City Schools System after 20 years of service. She loved being around her family, cooking, telling stories and traveling. We believe that she is in heaven and that we will see her again someday. She is survived by one daughter, Teresa Ramsey of Middletown; one son, Stanley (wife, Sharon) Banks of Middletown; five grandchildren, Doug Banks, Orbain "Opie" Banks, Donald "Tooter" (wife, Sarah) Banks, Matthew Black, Zack Ramsey; seven great grandchildren, Dakota and Dalton Banks, Christopher "Bert" Banks, Adrianna Banks, Abby Banks; and a daughter-in-law, Jeannie (wife of Dewey Banks) Banks of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orbain Banks; two sons, Don Banks and Dewey Lee Banks; her parents; and a brother, George Lockard. COLLINS, Lula of Hamilton went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2009 at Hospice of Hamilton. Born on November 23, 1907 in Perry County, Kentucky, Ms. Collins raised four daughters. She was very active in gardening and flowers, working find-a-word books and loved her cats. She was an active member of Cherry Valley Baptist Church in Hamilton. She is survived by one brother, Mlnn Turner of Hamilton, and one sister, Mary Estep of Hamilton, and two daughters, Dorothy Short of Hamilton, and Barbara Tussey Barger and her fiancé Glenn Nicely of Fairfield Township. Ms Collins Is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and into a fifth generation. She was preceded in death by her parents Lottie and Eli Turner, 2 brothers, and 5 sisters and two husbands, Dan Collins and Roy Clayton Collins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Hamilton. Visitation will be September 10, 2009, from 5.8 pm. at lvey Funeral Home at Rose Hill Burial Park. DUNCIL, Floren age 84, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2009. He was born February 19, 1925 in Letcher County, KY to Sheridan and Vestie Duncil. He served in the US Army in Europe during WWII and was honorably discharged and became employed at Raymond Bag Company. There he met Grace Birchfield and they were married November 23, 1950. Floren soon went to work for Aeronca and retired from there after 30 years. In addition to his parents, Floren was preceded in death by wife, Grace in 2002, sisters, Mary, Ina, Eva and Arbutus. Floren is survived by children, Anita (Tim) Minor, Doug Duncil, Gail (Tim Wilder) McNutt; grandchildren, Ryan and Katie Duncil and Michael, Kelli and Joshua McNutt and 3 great-grandchildren, Kayden, Riley and Breanah; 2 brothers, Daniel and wife Chelcie and Sheridan "Bub" Jr. and wife Janet and many nieces and nephews. He loved all his friends at VFW and DAV and enjoyed spending time with them. We would like to thank his wonderful neighbors, Kathy, Sarah, Jon, Scott and Brianna for all their help to Floren and for looking out for him. Also, thanks to Dad's good friend Bob Sandlin and to the paramedics and to MPD officers, Leukhardt and Corozza for all of their assistance and kind words. She was born in Nickell, Kentucky on June 4, 1932 the daughter of Tinsley and Thelma Walters. Lenore moved to Ohio at the age of five and was a graduate of Verona (Ohio) High School. She was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952. Besides Ohio, she also resided in Los Angeles and Florida. On November 19, 1999 in Plant City, Florida she married Roman Maripuu. She is survived by her husband, Roman Maripuu of Hamilton; brothers Kenneth Walters of Portland, Indiana and Arthur Walters of Lake Placid, Florida; sisters Millicent (Linford) Houck of Plant City, Florida an Allegra Schlotterbeck of Greenville, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and spouse David Muir. Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Luther and a brother, Harless. McWHORTER, Anna B. age 87, of Middletown, Ohio passed away Friday, August 28, 2009 at Sycamore Hospital. She was born January 14, 1922in Beattyville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Walter and Alpha (Brandenburg) Bailey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph McWhorter, five sisters, Flo Wells, Nellie Tirey, Inez Kraft, Juanita Wagers and Clara Strong; and two brothers, Winfred and Troy Bailey. She is survived by her son, Tim (Cheryl) McWhorter of West Elkton, daughter, Judie (Thom) Isgrigg of Middletown; four grandchildren, Jackie (Jason)Lohrey, Christi (Rick) Watson, Charles "Chuck" (Amy) Benton, Sara (Tom) Rusk, 12 great grandchildren, twins, Dana and Brooke Lohrey, Ryan Watson, Taylor Bonham, Elaina Benton, Natalie Watson, Owen Lohrey, Michael Benton, Caleb Rusk, Matthew Benton, Ethan Rusk and Jacob Watson; two sisters, Daisy Rowland of Cincinnati and Bonnie Creech of London, Kentucky; two brothers, Earl and Paul Bailey both of Hamilton; and a special niece Linda Darnold. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 31, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Dalton Funeral Home, corner of Weaver Rd. and State Route 4, Germantown, Ohio. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Poasttown, Ohio. DUNN, Larry "Goose" age 63, of Carlisle, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Southview Hospital. He was born April 10, 1946 in Wolfe County, KY to Melvin Robert and Amanda Jane (Spencer) Dunn. He was a truck driver for ABF Freight Systems for 12 years, retiring in 2000. Larry was a member of Teamsters Local Union #957; avid corn hole player, fisherman and huge Dale Earnhardt fan. He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin R. Dunn. Larry is survived by his wife, Glenna F. Dunn of 18 years; mother, Amanda J. (Dean) Myers of Middletown; daughter, Bonnie (Chris) Scheper of New Miami; sons, Randall (Kelly) Dunn of Carlisle, Brian Dunn of Middletown; step-daughters, Barbara (John ) Meyers of Middletown, Lisa (Billy) Barnes of Tazewell, TN; step-sons, Robert (Doreen) Morris, Jr. of Camden, TN, George Morris of Carlisle; 19 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald (Kathy) Dunn, Donald Dunn both of Middletown, Danny (Jean) Dunn of Hillsboro; sister, Pat Bannon of Middletown. Visitation will be held Friday, August 28, 2009 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Baker-Stevens Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park. BLANKENSHIP, Gladys age 89, died suddenly on Saturday, August 15th at Quaker Heights Care Community in Waynesville, OH. She was born April 23rd, 1920 in Morgan County, Kentucky to Willie and Pearlie (Hays) Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as a brother Estill Martin and a sister Edna Goodpaster. She was married for 42 years to Leonard Blankenship who died in 1993. Gladys was a long time resident of Warren County who worked for many years at Otterbein Nursing Home and retired from Kettering Hospital in 1986. She loved spending time with her family and collecting birds, bells and salt and pepper shakers. She is survived by her 5 children; Marvin Blankenship of Oregonia, OH, Marple Blankenship and wife Evalee of Lebanon, OH, Russell Blankenship of Hillsboro, OH, Lynn Cook and husband Dale of Lebanon, OH and Ruth Baker and husband Henry of Springboro, OH. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 20, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Baker-Stevens Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, August 21, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Craft officiating. Entombment will be at Woodside Cemetery. Memorial contributions maybe made to Alzheimer's Association, Greater Cincinnati Chapter, 644 Linn St., Suite 1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.
